Course Overview

Build Confidence, Deepen Understanding, and Master Maths Together! A 6-week programme designed to build fluency and confidence in fractions, ensuring a strong foundation in this essential area of maths. Fractions are a key part of the KS2 national curriculum and underpin many other mathematical concepts. This programme provides structured, step-by-step teaching to help children understand, compare, and calculate with fractions, ensuring they develop the skills needed for more advanced maths. Through clear explanations, guided practice, and problem-solving activities, children will gain confidence in working with fractions, tackling calculations, and applying their knowledge to a range of problems. What We Cover: ✅ Understanding & Simplifying Fractions – Equivalent fractions, simplifying using common factors, recognising proper, improper, and mixed numbers ✅ Comparing & Ordering Fractions – Finding common denominators, converting between improper and mixed fractions ✅ Adding & Subtracting Fractions – With the same and different denominators, adding & subtracting mixed numbers ✅ Multiplying Fractions – By whole numbers, by fractions, and multiplying mixed numbers ✅ Dividing Fractions – By whole numbers and by fractions, using the 'flip and multiply' method ✅ Problem-Solving & Fluency – Applying all four operations in fraction calculations, tackling reasoning questions Each session includes: 🔹 Clear explanations and guided practice to ensure understanding 🔹 Step-by-step teaching of key concepts to build fluency and accuracy 🔹 Small-group discussions and activities to reinforce learning 🔹 Progressive skill development to support confidence in calculations 🌟 A structured and supportive programme designed to help children gain a strong grasp of fractions before moving on to more complex mathematical applications.
