Fossil Hunters: A Dinosaur Adventure- Dig up the past and bring dinosaurs to life!
Course Overview
This is a Lower KS2 project, aligned with the Year 3/4 curriculum. However, if your child is interested in this project, it is possible to adapt the work up or down so it is accessible — please contact us to discuss. Become a junior palaeontologist and step back in time to the age of the dinosaurs! Over six weeks, pupils will explore the fascinating prehistoric world, learning when dinosaurs lived, how fossils are formed, and how scientists like Mary Anning uncovered their secrets. This cross-curricular project blends science, history, maths, and English, giving pupils the chance to investigate real-world questions, measure and compare dinosaur data, and write their own dino fact files. Each week builds towards a final “Dino Museum Showcase,” where children present their discoveries through posters, timelines, and exhibits. Highlights include: 🦖 Creating a dinosaur timeline from the Triassic to the Cretaceous 🐚 Investigating how fossils form and learning about famous fossil hunters 📏 Using maths to measure and compare dinosaur lengths, footprints, and speeds 📚 Researching and writing fact files about favourite dinosaurs 🌍 Mapping dinosaur fossil finds from around the world 🏛 Curating a “Dino Museum” of posters, drawings, and discoveries Perfect for curious minds, Fossil Hunters combines discovery, creativity, and hands-on science to bring the prehistoric world to life.
